Working Together – Custom Works

What is it like working with us? What is the process from beginning to end? How do you order a piece from our collections? Can a collection piece be customized? How do you commission us to design a custom piece?

Let’s walk you through the process to help answer these questions and more...
Antique Level of The Kristian Brunsdale Studio

An interested client has seen our work in some way such as here on the web, in our gallery, at an art show or in person. If they are in the area, we encourage them to come by the studio or gallery to see more pieces as well as our portfolio. If that is not possible, we'll try and meet at the client's home/office or send more information by mail/e-mail. When the client is ready to, we discuss the project’s style, their budget, and completion dates. At this point it is very difficult to project exact pricing as too much is still undetermined with the final design and materials.

Design

"let the fun begin!"

Designing a project takes one to two weeks. One or both of us may visit the job site taking all necessary measurements, photos (with the client’s permission) and studying the architecture, furnishings and other valid criteria within the site.

It is very important to us that the client expresses all of their needs, suggestions and expectations for the project so that we can discuss all viable solutions and develop working drawings. When the first draft of the drawings is completed, we will either meet directly with the client or send the drawings to them.

A final meeting either in person, by telephone &/or fax, or by e-mail then takes place to review the drawings, pricing and contract. (To See a Sample Contract, Click here) When all parties have signed and dated the contracts, the next phase begins.

Construction

As each project has its own intricacies, we usually work on one project at a time so that we can stay focused on it. When we actually begin work on the project depends on other work in progress and whether or not special materials need to be ordered and shipped in.

We try to be as realistic as possible and keep the customer updated as best we can about the timing of all of the project’s phases (drawings/construction/installation).  If there are any delays, we notify the customer immediately. Average projects take from 2-4 weeks once the work begins, and very large projects take 6-12 weeks.
